There are more hybrid combinations also... Oculatus x Platostomus, Osseus x Platostomus, Oculatus X platyrhinchus and Tropicus x Spatula are all documented or reported.

i definitely agree...at least with other guides being out there, audubon is not so hot. if you are going to reference a good field guide for north american freshwater fishes, use the petersons field guide...it's far superior and i have the students buy this guide whenever i've taught the ichthyology lab. it's the most-used fishes book for me throughout my years in fisheries thus far--

i have this book somewhere but i dont know excactly where. i will look for it. and i checked the audubon out at the library. but thanks for the link and letting me know i have the most useful guide out there.

thanks for informing me with this info richard. something else i didnt know. is there any info you could give me about Lepisosteids that is interesting (its all interesting). cuz i love and enjoy learning about these fish and wish to know every thing about them.
