The only aquaculture being done with these fish is in Cuba at this time. As you may know the US government has an economic embargo against Cuba therefore it is illegal to import them from the country of origin. Europe, Asia and the rest of the world really do not have a hard time getting them as long as the state run aquaculture facility at Zapata swamp in Cuba has surplus available. Cuban gars that are aquacultured are mostly destined for the table or for re-release / stocking. These fish are considered a state treasure so are not exported in large numbers.
