Leporinus Fasciatus?

nice fish!, i see you like fish with stripes

also what size tank?

It's a 130G. 6' long. I've had him since he was about 4''.

if you read the comments, you'll see that at least four of us are speaking from direct experince . . . I had two leporinus for about 3 years; they were in a 90G tank with plenty of room, and they started out nice and grew into mean, nasty fish by about 8-9" . . . in my experience

what was worse, when I tried to get rid of them, my LFS wouldn't take 'em, because they said no one wanted them when they got to that size . . . I eventually gave them to a store about 30 miles from my house because they had a monstrous fresh-water display tank that could accomodate them

I'm glad yours has been so friendly, but it's in the minority here . . . *

I guess so, I'm sorry I came off so uppity. It's just that I think this fish has a bad reputation that seems unreasonable when you see mine haha. He's a thick fish, like a torpedo. Nice guy

Yeah, all fish are unique (even though some have certain tendencies). It's what makes MFK well... MFK!

wait, who told you that Leporinus are generally gentle fish? they are notorious for being nippy..did your LFS tell you that to make a sale?

i read it on some fish info site. i dunno i typed in Leporinus Fasciatus, and a site told me. But thats why i asked here, cause i knew people had some hands on.

I don't know how many of these people have actually had one, but mine is peaceful unless my fronts bug him. He's about 11.5''

Nice fish. Cool colors, blue with black stripes, yellow with black stripes, very nice choices.
