my RTM x Dovii hybrid and Salvini are at it again. The first time the RTM X Dovii hybrid laid eggs, i thought the Salvini was a male. Turns out the Salvini is a female. The two keeps doing the mating dance and locking jaws. I got home from work today and saw a bunch of eggs in the tank again. You can see the egg tube thing on both fish. Its weird cause i have a male Dovii and a male Jag in the same tank, but the two females are not interested in them. Anybody ever heard of such a thing as lesbian fishes?

It happens a lot, especially with the CA cichlids. You can try removing one of the females for a time and see if the other will take an interest in one of the males. Otherwise they will likely keep at it.

Females do this on occasion. I had it happen with a female JD and con. Agreed remove one of the females.

Not just lesbian, there are gaay couple too. My male V. fene paired up with a male V. sysnpillum. They changed color, shaked head to each other, and cleaned the site as if they were trying to breed for a week before calling off. I know both are are males by venting as both dropped their tiny sperm tube during the heat of the courtship.
My female jags use to always lay eggs with each other. No males
