Hi guys,

After watching and reading several posts on several threads in the group, I'm coming to the idea that I'm simply not educated enough to hang with most of the members. Perhaps another forum might be more appropriate for my needs and desires.

Are there other forums that you have used, and perhaps moved on from because the information wasn't advanced enough?

Thank you all for helping the dummy out,
AZR

Asking us what other forums we recommend is like asking someone who works at Coca Cola if they would recommend Pepsi. The only beginner forum I can think of is Fish Lore, but the members make quite a few mistakes on the info they give, especially with larger fish, so I would avoid that forum. This is the best freshwater forum you can find, you just have to know how to use it. If you stick to the General Aquaria sub forum, then it should all be pretty basic information, and you can move up from there when you feel that you're ready.

Hello; First let me comment on your post. It is well written and phrased. The words are spelled correctly. Not a long run on sentence.
To me this places you several orders above the actual forum dummies from the get go.

Next, that you wish to learn is good enough for me to be willing to work with you. If you turn out to be a "genuine dummy" I will let you know. I might even be polite about it.

The hobby is complex. There is a lot to find out about and it takes time (years in fact). However if a new fish keeper is willing to learn on more simple setups, then the more complex stuff can be done in time.
First piece of basic advice is to never take the advice of a clerk at the fish shop at face value. They much too often get it wrong. Check it out.

I agree stick around, ask the questions, there are no stupid questions only stupid answers which is what you will get from and uninformed forum. there are plenty of us here to willing to work from my kid just got a gold fish what do I do to anything else you can think of.

ask the question, plenty here willing to help with BTDT advice.

I felt the same way you did at one point but became a student by taking mental notes and listening to some of the kindess members here they will go beyond as far as helping anyone this is why I chose to stick around. This is by far the best Forum I have been on.

There is no such thing as a stupid question. There is such a thing as an ignorant answer. You will find both on this site. The ignorant answers will eventually be corrected by the the knowledgeable answer. It is up to you to start the conversation.

Humility is not a bad thing...and stick around as others have said and you'll be fine.

I consider myself a beginner in many many areas of this hobby. But I look at it like when I played billiard. You get better through a lot of practice and you improve playing with others better than you. Although that's in theory since I dont think I got better in 9-ball LOL, but my point is still valid ;-)

Most of us, dare say all of us, learn from other posters. By and large, 90-95% of the posts I read provide information to me.

Ask and post away. The fact that you have questions is a good thing, and again, most of us will learn from the answers people give.

Anyway, I read some of your posts. Pretty high quality (some over my head), imo. No reason for you go anywhere.
