As I'm browsing Ebay for filters, I've noticed the proliferation of what seems to be new aquarium companies starting up selling filters that I've never heard of or maybe brand names from different countires?.

Or cheap knock offs of name brand stuff with weird names as to not draw attention from the name brand companies?

+1

I have ordered one of the sunsun canister filters

Was it a good filter?

I read some review on here and other sites. Over all it seams to be a good buy. I have not received mine yet. So I guess I will have to wait and see.

I have seen these knockoffs on ebay. a 65.00 copy of a 400.00 ehiem? I know you must pay for a brand name but c'mon. I have heard some good thing about the sunsun. I guess if your tight for money, you csn try these, but I have spent good money on my tank and stock, and I'm not going to go cheap on the most important part of the aquarium. does'nt have to be Ehiem. rena and fluval are tried and true filters. maybe these filters will work, but for how long? I think it will take a few years before we know just how good these filters are. until then, I'll stick with the name brand.

on this side of the world, the shops are stocked with such Chinese brands and after using these brands for more than 10yrs now i can safely say that you should not judge quality purely by the price they command :)

brands like atman, dolphin, rs electricals, sun sun are the popular brands out here.

my most recent pickup has been a 1600LPH canister with 4 trays and a 9W UV for about $60!

thanks for that info demonknight. are those original products or copies of brand name filters? I have seen sunsun, but not the others.

Haven't seen replicas or copies of the big name brands out here. Though recently saw a SOBO internal power filter which looked like an Eheim :)

What money i save on these canisters i can splurge on filter media! And RS Electricals gives me 1yr replacement warranty as well!

DemonKnight, Are you able to buy replacement parts as well?.
That would be my main concern after quality so you can keep the filters running longer. All it takes is something like a rubber gasket wearing out and the whole filter won't work anymore.
