Hey guys as I posted on the breeding thread yesterday, I am looking to get into breeding as a hobby. Many of my concerns are finding people who are willing to pay the fish so I don't get over ran with fry. Also wanting to learn how to breed a fish that has a purpose so I can learn and correct what I am doing wrong before trying to breed more expensive fish. That being said would anyone be interested in me breeding fish as feeder fish on this forums? I have not seen anyone doing this yet, but have only been on the forums for about a day now and tried searching it to the best of my ability.

Now if you are interest or possibly think is worth my time instead of breeding something like jewels, endlers, or many of the other fish suggested to me in my breeding post. I would like to know which fish do many of you purchase. I will not be doing gold fish, I feel like I do not even have to explain this one. I know there are tons of other species/fish like convicts, mollies, ect... Please give me any feedback on this idea as I would like to get into breeding with easier fish they others can benefit off. Almost as a way of repaying your guys for helping me understand breeding and helping with many problems that may come up.

Ideas that I have already thought of is documenting the fish I will be selling so everybody knows what has been done and the care they have been given. I would like to find people interested in the fish before hand but do not want them to back on me for their feeder supply, as I stated I am new to breeding and anything could happen with a newbie like me at the start.

Some information about me: I am 20 years old and have always wanted to get into this type of hobby but have never really had the money for it. I am currently going to college, but commute from my home. This will allow me to speed plenty of time with the fish to do correct water changes and documenting everything. Lastly, I am a new at this so I am here to learn from the masters while I am here.

I would like to thank you in advance!

No offense. But I don't think you'll get too many people yet considering you're literally brand new here. Btw why does your profile say you're 30 but you say you're 20?

I understand that I’m new and everything that’s why I don’t want to promise anything as I am still learning. We all have to start somewhere so I am willing to learn and do whatever other members think I should do at the moment. Also I think when I made my account I was going to fast on my cell phone, scrolled to 88 instead of 98 will try to get it fixed next time I am at a computer. I am currently on vacation so will have plenty of time to reach out to someone, thanks for letting me know.

I believe you can only have it changed by a mod?
Also, I wouldn't let what other people want influence what you breed. If you're truly new to breeding then go for some easy to breed fish. Find a lfs and see if they'll take them. Have you ever shipped anything?
I'd find something you can breed and then try to sell them. You can't guarentee the amount of fish that'll live to sellable size. What's that phrase? Don't count your chickens before they hatch? That applies.

Try looking into breeding cories or bristlenose plecos. They arent feeder fish but there will always be a market for them. When there isn't a market for them I'll eat my fedora and post it on youtube.

Yeah I gunk only a mod can change it will get on that later.
I do appreciate the advice on not letting people pick what I breed. Also don’t want to make any promises that my fry will survive as I am learning I’m going to have many die most likely.

I have shipped things but never a fish. My father owns a manufacturing business so I have always helped package stuff up. I have everything needed besides to supplies that are need for fish.

Also I have heard bristlenose come up a lot and think that may be a good idea I will for sure look into cories though.

Well it seems like you certainly are able to ship stuff, just have to learn how to ship a fish. If you have any questions about breeding fish or what to breed go on and head down to the breeding section and ask your question :)

A buddy of mine Deadliestviper7 Deadliestviper7 says they're pretty easy to breed. I have no experience so I can't say. But I do know that a lfs would most likely rather buy a quality bred here betta then a mass bred in Thailand betta. Plus the shipping costs are a plus to buy from a local breeder.

Yeah thanks for your input it really does help. I already have a post in the breeding section just wanted to see if anyone would be interested in the feeder fish idea. I already made a post in the breeding section so I really wanted this one to be about the idea of it. Thanks for everything!
How about bettas?
I would like to stay away from bettas... at least for now.
