Let me help with feeder fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All throughout this thread I was getting g this feeling because of your general excitedness that you were one of the people that would find out about something and then without doing any research or even getting into the hobby they try to do something big in the hobby like "I'm going to build a car all by myself!" or something like "I'm gonna build a house going in blind!". :p

Also look into shrimp breeding if you want to make profits. Start with something easy like red cherry shrimp.

Care if I send you a private message later today? I am currently at the beach and you have helped me a ton with ideas. I can tell you have been doing this much longer than I have and I may have many questions to ask.

It's not that I haven't taken the time to think it out, that is the only thing keeping me from diving in head first. I want to enjoy this hobby and become very good at it. I am trying to gain all the knowledge that I can before jumping into one breed or the other. My thought behind the feeder fish was to see what people need/want. Then spend the next few months or perhaps a year focusing on the in smaller tanks. Once I feel more comfortable branching on to bigger pools. Thanks for the concern, but I am taken this very slow and will only be starting with one or two species and taking notes until mastering those. Then moving on to bigger and better things.

That's very good, because some get to deep to fast, and mess verything up, this isn't the hobby for hastiness, I commend you for your wisdom

This is a very good idea for a beginner breeder looking to make some money imho...

You technically only need at min. 1 small tank / sponge filter / substrate + moss and some basic lighting...

Red Cherries as mentioned is a good starting point that seems to have demand and arent difficult to keep...

From there, once you have some experience under your belt you could even graduate to more expensive species such as Crystal Reds / King Kongs etc...

The fact they are small and dont need much also makes them easier to ship...

I would go with bare bottom over having substrate of any kind for a shrimp breeding tank. Java moss would provide protection and food for the babies. The substrate would only alloy food to decompose would it not?
