ehhh i would just save your cash man. midevils kill just for fun. doubt youre gonna find any schooler that'll survive very long. unless you're enjoying all the mayhem that is.

are you trying to keep these fish together long term? pretty sure once they do beef up youre just gonna have one or no fish left alive cause its gonna be a bloodbath. maybe in a massive tank theyd be fine though.

Great color, hilarious name.

Mine is a possible petsmart fish, as a midevil orphan from the cool LFS. I will get a better pic of her in the morning. We call her Scampers, she’s about 6”.

I keep reading about people “hoping” their Amph won’t kill the other fish, but I think they secretly like the carnage. If you really want them to live, get another tank.

That said; I missed a few 1” Apistogramma fry when I first moved my girl in, and they miraculously made it a whole day in the same tank, with basically no cover, before being removed. I think I may have one of those cupcake midevils. It was in a tank at the LFS for a couple weeks with some 2” salvini, texas and other cichlids...a JD and a Jewel I think, and they didn’t get wrecked. I want to follow up with the kids at the shop as to how it ended up in there, and why didn’t they think it would destroy its tankmates, they are usually pretty thoughtful about it.

I really don’t want carnage, so if I decide down the road to try to introduce other fish, like potential mates, it will be in a new territory with pre-installed shelters and a divider. Even then I expect some possible mortality.

Sweet little Apistogramma will sometimes kill their bonded females out of nowhere. I know I cannot avoid occasional losses, but some folks seem to be asking for violence. I find it distasteful but whatever; “Fish Lyfe,” dawg.
