Very cool! I wanted to get some of jughead's emps.

Really? no agression? cause everything I have read about adn from experiences from my other friends is that they start killing each other off. If they can all get along then that is great.

they show abit of aggression now....

Is this also known as a peacock? I'm new to cichlids. They didn't really interest me until recently. I almost bought a mated pair of rainbow peacocks today.

Peacocks are a specific group of colorful, similar-looking Lake Malawi species that get about 4-6" long, depending on specie. Their bodyshape is very similar to one another, but the coloring can vary greatly. They are also called "Auloncaras". Your rainbow peacocks would fall under this category. Here's a couple sample pics:

They are generally considered the more 'delicate' african cichlid species by most keepers, though that doesn't mean they aren't aggressive, especially towards one another.

Peacock bass are essentially South America's answer to North America's larger bass species; their bodyshape is similar and their feeding tendencies are very similar. They range in size from ~15" to 40", depending on specie.

B. Microlepis is a Lake Tanganyika specie, and vies with the peacock bass specie Temensis for Largest Cichlid. These fish can reportedly get 3 feet long. Hence microlepis' common-name of "Emperor cichlid"

THANK YOU! Great info. As soon as my friend gets the rainbows bred I plan to get a few. I am getting Pbass (and fronts) on Thursday. Great info. Thank you so much. Please excuse my lack of info on Cichlids but rest assured. I am a quick study. :)
