lethargic rays, heavy breathing...treatment?

Well i regret to say my instincts were correct :/ 50/50 anyway i guess.. the said ray with bloat took a turn for the worst today. She looked seemingly normal yesterday, was even picking at food but soon as the lights came on i knew she was a gonner by the way her eye balls looked :(...I still suspect parasites, in the final 12 hrs she became extremly discolored, eye balls started to suck in and her breathing became frantic until rigamortis set in. i stayed up all night with her... Ive seen the sucked in eye balls before dealing with plecos, bloat, and parasites/hex.

so what does everyone think i should treat the rest of the group with as a preventative measure, the other 4 rays are still eating so im thinking of using prazi/metro soaked in their pellets/tilapia ....really wish i would have bombed the group with prazi on arrival. my biggest fear now is watching this happen again down the road. Only other mild treatment ive used before is nitrofurazone. Anyone have a good treatment routine or medicine mix they use for incoming fish on a regular basis? I feel my "fish medicine cabinet" may be lacking a bit for emergency type situations and or quarenteen...Been reading about using injections of baytril but im not a vet so acess to that may be slim. any help/advice is much appreciated. im a bit gutted/mad at myself... as i knew something was wrong from the get go and failed 2 do anything.

so whats in all ur fish medicine cabinets, ray specific? sorry for the rant lol...

I wouldn't beast yourself up too much, this might have played out even with proper treatment. I don't think I'd treat with anything but prazi, but I'd be waiting on here asking for help as well. I keep salt, prazi and methylene blue on hand but my med cabinet needs some love too. I also have pimafix and the other one, but I'm becoming more convinced that if they do anything it's usually already too late to be effective. I would just give them space and observe, and probably order whatever meds people suggest. I'm also sorry to hear you lost one, experiencing the helplessness of watching their life slip away is something I will never forget. Keep us updated on the other guys, I think that they would show symptoms while they are at there weakest and they've been eating for some time now.

thanks for the kind words, and i agree. sucks knowing theres nothing u can do sometimes...hopefully this turns into a positive learning experience so i can be proactive down the road rather than reactive. i seem to have a good eye for spotting problems early... but no solid knowledge or line up of solutions to battle back with.
