That's what I'll do. I will actually see them eating first hand. It was my bad on this one, I just took their word for the fact that they were eating, I should've known better.

I guess I need to post this in the lessons learned thread.

.
Id call the LFS out on this. You have this thread as proof. Take a water sample so they can't blame your water. If they are legit, they'll at least give you some credit.

Yup, it really sucks man...I'd bet 90% of us can relate to how your feeling ftrom first hand experience. My first ray was a WC marble that came not eating and wit major ammonia burn. Had it shipped across the country without seeing it or really knowing what I was getting into. Made it 7 days asnd ended up just like yours. Biggest lesson I learned was being careful about where my rays come from...or really who they come from. Since that horrible lesson I've had great success keeping rays and it's really the most enjoyable experience of my life!! Try again when you can acquire a healthy ray.

They said they would discount the next one. I am not sure i want another wc from their same supplier......

Sorry for your loss man, that is rough. As others have said most of us have been there. My first ray 10+ years ago was a motoro, I think, though I haven't seen one that looks like it since, but I had it a few weeks before it passed. Got it from a lfs. Eventually decided to try again and got a CB motoro from someone local selling it and away we went.

That said I tried several more times to buy lfs rays and always ran into issues. Some lived, some didn't. Retics are cool rays but they are tough to get going well.

Another option for you is one of several vendors and breeders on here if you don't find a ray eating locally. No you wont be able to see it eat in person but there are several people you can trust that they are selling you a healthy ray. I get all of my rays and have them shipped into me, most eat right out of the bag. Something to consider!

Thanks Fish guy.

fishguy306 fishguy306 .

Sounds like a good option. If you wouldn't mind sharing me with me your list of preferred Sellers, I would appreciate it. If you would like to send that via private message please do so. Thank you for your time.

I'd be interested in trying one that was shipped in, but I prefer if I could pick it up. So anyone that's in the New York City area would be best. I'm located one Hon dread miles north of New York City so New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Connecticut are all easily drivable.

Did you want to go the motoro route? I'm not sure who is breeding/selling them out that direction but I'm sure there is someone if you don't want to have them shipped.

I know Mike at Central Ohio Discus and Stingray had some marble motoros that he bred, not sure if he has sold them by now though. I'll shoot you a PM in a moment.
