Yeah man, its 2 hrs (168 km) south of Ensenada. I have a 4 bdrm 2 bath almost on the beach I call Rancho Relaxo. Great surf, riding, fishing, food, and the landing where we fish from is only 20 mi. from the house. I usually dont go fishing till the Tuna and Dorado start going off, or Albies. If you are an ocean angler you are more than welcome to get in on some trips. I dont drink here in the USA but Ill drink all day in Mex if I want to, and sometimes do.

Not where Im at, the water temps are really temperate, sort of like Central Cal. Im pretty sure cubera are a tropical fish, I think they are also called Dog snapper. They get them in Cabo in the warmer months. I have seen Hammerheads waayy out when tuna fishing during an El Nino season. If the water gets warm enough they follow the schools of exotics up into Socal waters. More likely to see the Landlord (Great White shark) than you will see Hammerheads.
We do have INSANE surf fishing at times, but its all small stuff like croaker, perch, and corvina. In the summer you can troll a small lure behind a kayak for barracuda, if the surf is small enough to launch it.

dude, dont tell me its all small stuff, i get threshers, leopards, batrays, halibut, smooth hound sharks, sheephead, lingcod, sand & calico bass and and a variety of other stuff in the surf out in OC and LA beaches. they cant get smaller as you go south, they get BIGGER!:D even got a hammerhead off of huntington pier in the mid 90's.

have you ever rigged up for anything big in the surf?

just a question...why does the temp. drop down where ur at? u say its like central cal...meaning the water is usually in the 50's? is there some current that flows through there bringing cold water? id rog up for a White then...lol...its been done.

D ont get me wrong, there are bigger fish ,sharks and rays to be caught and I see them caught by the local pangeros by the hundreds, Im just not really into heavy gear surf fishing. I would rather use a lighter outfit and fish the incoming tide 20 yards offshore and catch fish like 1 every 3 minutes or so. There is just alot more stuff I enjoy doing there than sitting around and casting long distances. But if that is your thing, you would love it.
