They do look like them,I think robertsoni is a little more elongated though.
Be nice to see those pasionis develop. I look forward to seeing more updates on those.

Thanks! There is a good deal of variation w/ robertsoni, so I'm really curious to see if they are anything like my old girl.

After QT, I am moving fish around. In the end I may keep the meeki, pasionis and mixteco blue together w/ the robertsoni, salvini and deppii.
Anyway hope the robertsoni turn out like this.

Thanks Frank, but that's a robertsoni. It's a weird angle shot. She is 10" and really old. It takes a very, very long time for a robertsoni to get to that size. One of the slowest growing cichlids IME. The new ones are only like 1" so I might be able to move them to the 150g in a year, but hopefully less. I'm going to be doing tons of water changes and feed NLS.
I miss having JDs though. Are you going to breed those JDs?

Kind of concerned because two of the pasionis have sunken in bellies. They arrived that way, but appear to be eatting and no white stringy poo.
They really seem to love hanging out together unlike the mixteco blues. I lost one mixteco to aggression. The dominate female killed a male. So I split the fish up, added the dominant female and the largest (and only) male to the 150g. They are only about 2"+. The dominate female is extremely aggressive and started to go after the male and some of the meeki. I didn't think these mixteco were that aggressive??
For now the male has space to get away and the meeki seem to be keeping her in place.

Don't forget mixtecos are just regional variants of maculipinnis, the most aggressive thorichthys by far.

I was hoping they would be more like helleri in terms of aggression, but that is a very good point.
I haven't had any luck w/ maculipinnis to really experience that, because of bloat. But I have only bought them from a LFS and not from a reputable vendor. It was sad seeing this LFS maculipinnis a few weeks ago. They looked horribly stressed.
It's funny but the thorichthys seem to rule the tank. Even the deppii, and salvini get chased by the much smaller meeki.
But I hope the peaceful pasionis do ok in this tank. The one I have seems to do well, and oldly there is no aggression between the species. Do you know why?
