Mine is on hikari carnivore floating pellets, fresh prawns and muscles, the odd Oscar pellet if he can manage it. Has grown from 6 to8 inches in just over a month
I've been refraining from posting pics of mine because A; I'm slightly embarrassed I still haven't got the big tank set up for him yet and B; I'm too lazy/busy to take decent pics at the moment, but here ya go. ~12" in a rather overstocked 140x65x48cm tank, eating nothing but Hikari food sticks.

I'm on nightshift for the rest of the week but I might try get some decent pics this weekend, looking at that picture then at the tank I feel embarrassed for the fish!I want a black so badly! I wonder though if I could house it with my silver & 2 achara catfish. What does everyone else think? I'd build another aquarium for him but that could be awaile. Anyways, here's my silver in my 430 gal plywood aquarium. Sorry about the crap pictures. I don't have a proper camera. These pics are mostly for scale.

It would be hit-and-miss trying to add it with the silver, you'd certainly want to find a good sized one to add to the mix. Personally I wouldn't risk it, but if you do try just be prepared to separate them if it goes badly. Great looking tank too!!
