please tell me thats not a heat rock in there...

you also need more plants in there, the way that cage is set up..it would be more suited for a destert dwelling lizard

Yeah it's a heat rock, why?

get rid of it ASAP,they are notorious for overheating and cooking reptiles since most of them can't sense heat in the belly's so they pretty much just cook to them in no time,i have seen a good few gecko's killed by them

Tainted Glory, wow that is really nice of you to offer, but I live like an hour away from Indy and they have a Midwest reptile show every month and I am gonna try to make it up there this month. I have been there b4 but never thought to look for them. I am sure they have them tho cause I rember seeing animals I didn't even know were feeders there! lol

maybe it wouldent hurt it,but id personally uses a heating pad..but then again if nothing happened to it in 8 years u should be fine

heating pads are much better then heat rocks, doesnt matter if nothing had happened in 8 years, it could still short out and cook the poor thing.

golden geckos don't even need a ground place to bask, since they are arboreal, humidity is more important for them.

I used to have a breeding pair of Golden Geckos till I gave them away. Goldens are aboral and should have a tall tank with with plenty of hiding places. They are tropical geckos and like humidity too. I would recommend getting rid of the heat rock as well. They still make those things?
