Thekid: I like your choice of avatars. Go Hawkeyes! Go Cubs!
Thanks. Hopefully the cubs postseason turns out better than the Hawks.

all these tanks look very cool guys. in south africa its pretty hard to get small native fish, but we have introduced bass, trout and carp.
one day i woul like to build a pond for some smallmouth yellowfish, a very cool indigenous fish

This was a tank from 2 summers ago I had for rainbow trout fingerlings. I believe I had something like 9 in a 90 gallon. Had a super strong powerhead with a ton of aeration from air stones. Water temp was around 65 degrees and I think topped at 68 degrees but would sometimes dip at night or after icing it to around 62 degrees. I'm looking to do this again once I get my 90 open again hopefully with 1 or 2 brook trout. One thing I thought was interesting was only one or two of the fish were really active always cruising around which were the dominant ones. The rest swam in a pack up against the back of the tank right out of the strong current like they would do in the real creeks and streams. Also found out you need to really really really rinse off stones you get from creeks. I thought I cleaned mine well enough and come end of the summer I had one hell of a stonefly hatch. Had to actually throw away filter hose because there were so many living in them. Last week of August before I returned for my senior year of college I gave all 9 fish to a gentleman with a private trout pond.
