I was thinking about doing that, the trick is to starve/hand feed them. Granted, I only have a sharpnose so the bite isn't as bad, but if you do hand feed him, they learn everything in your hand is food. Sometimes, that INCLUDES your hand lol.

puffers are reall bamazing creatures,i was wondering do any of you guys touch and pet you puffer?
just seen it on a vid once seems very weird for a fish.Though oscars are also very clever,
i feed by him by hand sometimes and he jumps out the water for it!!
 
Don't let your puffer jump out of the water, straight air hurts their lungs. If it is your oscar, that is just fine, my ctenopoma does the same thing!
