Lets see your cars!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep,and I'd love to have an SRT8 but it's pretty much a waste of money with me living in the city with stop signs and red lights at each corner.

Naw, it doesn't matter how good a V6 is today, a V8 is where more power is. American Muscle has the term power to it.

I'm not trying to insult V6's buy any means. I'm very impressed with what they can do. I have a 230hp V6 in my Outlander that can get to 100 in no time flat

Technically speaking, a "muscle car" is defined by being a big block, and died many years ago as production vehicles. Mustangs are "Pony cars" - long nose, short trunk, two doors with a V8 option.

Warborg, I might have a Mustang that could change your mind about the V6 idea. I spent a little time to prove that dollar per dollar, you can buy and build a V6 to more power than the same model year V8 in a Mustang. Granted, I've owned all sorts of motor options in Mustangs.... but I shocked a LOT of people showing what the V6 was really all about.

+1 zoo helping my cousin in law build a "demon", that's what he calls it at least lol. Its a body from a 69 mustang, polished restored and painted burnt orange, we just finished that and we are going to start building the engine. When he said V6 I was wondering why he wouldn't go with an 8 and he explained the same, you can get just as much if not more power from a 6 with the right options

I'm not well versed on engine talk so I didn't understand half of what he said lol. I could take apart and put back together basic boat engines but that's it haha

I wish I could afford a v8, but that still doesn't mean the v6 is any less of a muscle car. And to be fair, the 6 cylinder has come in a camaro since the 1st generation in the 60s. It's nothing new. It's obviously less powerful than a v8, but no less respectable

Whatever you need to tell yourself. That v6 is about as cool as that transformer sticker. But it is a new Camaro so it fits the car nicely ;)

So much hate for 6 cyl cars around here haha you guys do realize that modern 6's are more powerful than big v8s of old times? 93 mustang 5.0 either 225 or 235hp. 2012 mustang v6 is rated at 305... and is rated at 30mpg on highway. Also beats the 93 cobra by .8 sec to 60 and in the 1/4th mile. Point being have fun with your high performance v8s while you can. In a few years a turbo4 will likely outperform any of todays big motors.

Man! Slap some sense into this guy! I guess you could make a case for V6s if you're talking about buying a new car, driving it every day for the sake getting from point A to B and don't care much about the "fun." Yes todays V6 is
more efficient and makes more power than yesterdays V8, but if ANY part of you is in it for the VROOOM!!! You're wasting your time with a V6, Youll dump the same money in upgrades, and never see the power you'd make with a V8. A V8 car is also worth more, (flip side is more money for insurance) Im guessing that should matter to your
in law. A 69 should have a V8 imho, tune it towards gas mileage. V6s are fine if you never care to add power, but V8s are where it's at.

4 cyl, 6 cyl will never outperform a V8 because there's nothing you can do to a smaller engine, you can't do to a V8, and the V8 responds with more power given the same upgrade.
