They where 10" when I got them and I didn't catch them myself (out the tank of the store yes, nature no).

Great pics loubard. I like the yawning one. Here's a not so good pic of my ornate yawning also. I'd imagine bichirs can open their mouths wider than these.
How come everyone else seems to be able to take decent shots of their orantes? LOL All mine suck. If I can get one decent shot it's because I threw the other 586 attempts away. That's my ornate picture-taking strategy.
LOL yeah that's how I take my pics too. Shoot hundreds of pics before getting a nice one.
My young Senegal- purchased in March. He's grown about an inch- is now about 3" long. His name is Poseidon and he is my first Bichir. Once I get the hang of him, he will be joined by an Ornate Bichir.
