these have godda be related to channa in sum way shape or form yea???
no, not really. they both belong to Class Actinopterygii (ray-finned fishes), but thats about it. Keep in mind that all bony fishes belong to either ray-finned or lobe-finned.

bichir/ropefish are in a subclass that also includes the sturgeon and paddlefish, and are in their own Order Polypteriformes.

channa belongs to Order Perciformes, which includes a large number of fish like perch, bass, cichlid, anabantids just to name a few.

so taxonomically, the two are very apart from each other. basically bichir/ropefish are 'primitive fish' like arowanas, lungfish, sturgeons, gars, rays. Channa would be 'modern fish'.

Definitely looking forward to the pics with regular digi cam :)

Yeah, sometimes your passion is reason enough to justify expensive fish. I've never heard of melanistic bichirs until yours, so in the U.S. this is very rare.

Careful of this thumb. The nail is long and can really scratch you hard if you cheat on her:ROFL::ROFL:
