let me tell u, this guy is smaller then some of the earthworms i feed my fish lol, they thought he was one when i first put his bag in the tank, but they quickly realized to respect his authority!

Damn, that's indeed weird. Did he have that when you bought him? Is he eating well?

He wasn't so hunch when a baby. As he grow to the 8" mark he started to develop that hump on his back (probably due to heavy feeding of large bull frogs?) and slowly now measuring 16" (not straightened) his hunch is getting higher. It eats the hell out of me. Sometimes when it has a super large meal, the gap below his hunch is almost fully covered up. :)

Is this the same one as you posted about in the forum ?

It's a human spinal disorder, it reminded me of it when I saw your bichir. I'm not sure if something similar can be found on fish though.
Thank u. Its very informative. Guess bichirs get the same deformities as humans at times.

But this fellow has no problems feeding and going up for air, so i'll be glad to have him as it is. Btw i've got a couple more bichirs with deformity too like a blind weeksii/lap to a irregularly finned congicus. The weird thing is that these deformed bichirs have the best appetites throughout. Like what my wife always say, setting up a nursing home for the disabled bichirs :D
