African Tiger Fish. I just hope they dont kill your fish vise versa.

Well, it looks like some P-Bass are definitely going to be my first choice. Crowd favorite, yes? What are peoples favorite kinds? I'd like at least one Temensis.

Are rays and bichirs compatible?

I'm only asking these questions here as not to open up 5,000 different threads in every part of the forums.

I have a very similar tank (Tenecor Acrylic 8ft long 4ft tall 2 ft wide) and I would suggest clown knives (if you can get larger ones since my gars bit a smaller one in half and ate him which led to their removal and transport to my 10k gallon pond) I have recently (ok... 5 months ago) added a Red Devil Cichlid. I really look forward to seeing what you do with your tank. What are you going to use as filtration? I'm currently running 2 FX5's and that seems to be just barely enough not sure why... so I'm now looking at adding filtration and I'd love to see what you have in mind. I've personally been thinking about adding Green terror's or Jack Dempsey's that might be interesting as well but I wanted to get thoughts from others before doing that. Good Luck I'll be watching this to see what you do.

Don't worry, I've already got a Marbled Pim cat that is my fastest-growing fish. I'm not getting any other jumbo cats for the 500.

Australian Tarpon, huh. I'd have to do some research on that one. I don't hear much about tarpons these days.
