So I got this little fella from another person who has fry and no longer wanted this and was gonna flush it, so I took it. Currently it's in a 20H cause I didn't want to put it in my 220 yet. So question are, will it play nice with others? How long should I keep it in the 20? Should I try and set up it's own tank? Will it work with peacock bass, balas, dats and flagtails? You know just general first hand experience instead of Google.

Yes, I think you could grow him out in that tank, and he might be ok in the 220. I don't know the best size w/ the pbass.

He is a she, likely gonna stay too small in the long run... If she were male it might have worked, best of finding a male and a couple more females and setting up a 75g Imo.
Females have blue cheeks btw

It depends on the JD, I had one who killed 3 silver dollars within the first day of putting him in there. They are very slow growers and should be fine with the pbass but they could out grow him. I would put him in now and see how it does.

The bass will outgrow her, then they will eat here. She will likely never exceed 5.5".
The smallest species of bass get 20 inch +.
Just do a harem of jd in a biotope setup duanes duanes

Duanes can help with the biotope, he has swam the cenotes with jd.
Very beautiful underrated species.
Good save, cruel guy.

I find JDs do not do well when housed with other cichlids, just as they do not in many cases in nature.
In Cenotes where they are the only cichlid, they are healthy, colorful, populations are significant, and seem to grow larger, and reach potential.
When other cichlids are present they seem to get torn up, and suffer a bit, especially if those other cichlids are larger than they.
To me better tank mates are shoals of live bearers like sail fin mollies or large swordtails.
First a video taken in Eden Cenote, where JDs are the dominent cichlid.

next a video where other cichlids are the dominant ones.

I agree with Justarn that eventually the P Bass will probably not be a good thing for the health of the JD.
