Again, I think the more types of media in there the better. Foam+scrubbies+biomax+cut-up straws+whatever else you can think of! Its worked well for me... Nature likes chaos, not order.

I thought I was right but now I am not sure! Will a 200m filter sock remove more or less stuff than a 100m filter sock? Or, which is the better filter sock?

The smaller the number the smaller the particles it will catch. The micron number refers to the smallest size particle that the sock will catch. So essentially smaller is better. Unless it clogs too fast.

OK, I feel a little better. I am starting with a 200 so if that doesn't clog very fast or catch enough nasty stuff, I can go finer.
