Does anyone put romaine lettuce or other vegetables in their cichlid tank? If so how do you prepare it before? thanks for any input.

I use frozen peas which I boil for around 10min. to make them soft. Once cooled down I peel them and feed the iner flexh to the fish. They absolutely love it. I am not too sure on Lettuce. Never feed lettuce to a bird as it will give it the runs.
:naughty: :woot: :clap :headbang2

I dont even eat lettuce myself cause of the # of pets Ive had over the years that I got told"dont give it too much lettuce itll get the runs and die"
My mbuna get peas and carrots at least weekly,my snails and plecos eat zuchini and spinach so the mbuna get some of that too.I just boil the veggies briefly, and peel the peas

Put some Caesar dressing on that crap, give your fish a break!

I feed mine zuchini and they love it! I get a couple and cut them longways into quarters, then I boil them for like a minute in tap water with a little garlic powder. Stick one on a fork and through it in there, it won't last a day. (take fork out after a day) put the rest in a ziplock bag and freeze, now you can pull out a treat whenever you want. I usually give it to mine once a week.

I feed my cichlids lettuce and spinich. THEY LOVE IT!
I just grab some greens from the Earthbound organic mix that I get at my grocery store give er a rinse and a quick pat dry and use a suction cup clip and clip it to the glass. Two of mine ate it in about 10 minutes last night. They love it and it keeps them off my plants a bit. Just remember to remove the leftovers (if there are any) before 12 hours elapses so it doesn't effect your water qualityl.
Sometimes they'll even stalk the lettuce-its very cute. But once they figure it out, they love it.

Ive done peas and cucmber but never lettuce. i boil and peel the peas but i just rinse the lettuce and toss it in the tank, i then scoop out leftovers after a cpl of hrs.

I know herbivourus cichlids eat lettuce. Haven't tried it myself yet, but I will as soon as my LFS get some uaru I can purchase.
