Checked up on my HRP fry last night and noticed that out of the 15-20 that I have 3 of them (including the largest fish) are Leucistic. Now a google image search only brings up about 3 useful images. I was wondering if anyone on here could give me some information or perhaps show me some pictures? I believe rapps was selling them at one point so hopefully someone on here has some.

I assume we are talking lack of black pigment, so whitey pink bodies with blue and orange through the fins (for males)?

Thanks a lot
Strato

PS. I tried to get some pictures but my camera just won't focus on the fry, so they all come out UFO picture quality, so heres a picture of the happy parents

Wow thats really cool, thanks RD.
they do look very nice, I think I will keep all of them and grow them out maybe even try and breed them to yield a higher percentage of Leucistic young. This must mean that one of my parent fish has the Leucistic gene.

I have both blue and platinum HRP's. I don't think that they are the same fish with different colors. My platinum pair is much higher bodied that the blues, who are more "torpedo" shaped. I don't have any scientific evidence to back this up, just my opinion.

Strato - do you know where your group came from? Anything that came from a LFS could have some convict blood in their lines.

My full grown adult male platinum is taller also. different body shape. although i believe what the op has is different than platinums. ive seen leucuistic hrp threads before but ive noticed they have hrps colors jsut on a white bas colored body. platinums (atleast mine and the ones ive seen) dont have th blue hues or that much color. mine just gets the red point on the tail and during breeding time on the fins also. but never blue like hrps. Hoepfully someone knows if these are the same fish with different names or what the heck is going on here. i know mine is a f1 i think.

as far as I knew Leucistic fish do occur naturally they are just rare. just like pink fenestratus occur naturally but rarely and in certain river systems.

Woofy, My pair were surrendered by a customer to my LFS, they were already a pair at the store, and judging by the fact that they have completely different face and body structure to convicts i am sure they are pure. maybe even F1 there is no real way to tell. here is a picture of my males face, notice he has a very steep profile and body shape, not like a convict.

I only have a small turn out of 3 Leucistic fry, but I am pretty happy with them.
