so how do you guys set up your big tanks on carpet ? something like a 300gallon 72x36x27...do you pound shims in under the front of the tank until it fully level ? or how would you go about leveling such a big heavy tank that would sit on carpet or even hardwood floor ?

I set the empty tank/stand on my wood floor on a piece of utility carpet, let it settle for a few days, then measure X and Y as well as diagonal directions for levelness...then decorate, and fill with water; then measure again after a few days...

like right now i have a 130ish gallon tank and i never bothered to level it at all didnt think of it ....but anyway i ended up setting it all up as i wanted then started tof ill it once it is full you can see the water level isnt level ... if you look on the side of the tank you can see the water level at the back just under the trim the front ya cant see it ... so basically the tank and such is 1/4" higher in the back ... but i dont want this to happen with a 300gallon tank... i want mine to be as level as possible...

On carpet, I level the tank/stand and fill the tank enough to to get a second check. Then, I drain and relevel as necessary. Repeat the process until it is right. I have to admit though, I have pretty good luck when it comes to getting a tank level on the first try.

You level it lol! I have a 10' x 4' tank. I cut 1/8" and 1/4" strips of plywood and leveled front to back then side to side with a 6ft level and 4ft level. The tank sits.on 2" foam so that helps a bit. My tank is probably 1/8" off level side to side. It took me a week of filling a few inches checking level and adjusting as needed. If you dont have shims and a level start there!

When my 300 gallon was on carpet I filled it with about 6 inches of water to get some weight in the tank. After that I used a 6' level across the front and back and a 2' across the width. The tank had 6 main points of contact with the floor. Hammer and composite shims to level where needed. Still checked for level while the tank was filling and hammered more shims where needed. Done.

Yes I have a level lmao but with crapet ya jam stuff some shims in it anyway ?? Also if tank needs shimd do you just put like 5 shims across a 6ft tank ? Tank is 72x36x28,
