Evening all,

I have had my steel stand delivered and my slate tile floor isn't level.

Its sitting almost level long ways, however front to back is level. Eg there is no twist, just a gentle slant.

Will this be okay?

I've put a 1x2 wooden beam under the end, and brings it level, however am concerned if I do this the rest of the stand is not supported?

Can we get some details on the tank too? Glass? Thickness? Less worried with an over built tank than a bare minimum build.

Looks like 2" welded steel stand. You'll definitely want to shim evenly and fully support as much as possible. That gap will likely hold initially but down the road, depending on the load could bow and cause your tank to sit on an uneven surface which would be even worse than unlevel.

Not the end of the world. I'm sure with the talent in MFK collectively we will find a solution. This is not my specialty so I'm going to wait for one of the experts to chime in before I throw my idea out.

Thanks for the reply. Tanks is 87" l x 36" w x 28" h.

12mm glass, double base with strips bracing around top and two braces across top (standard UK bracing)

Yeah stand is 2" box section except top bars which as 2x4 and thicker steel so is no braces underneath ( second large tank to go under) Attached pic to explain.

Yeah I guess id have to shim a lot, some places are high of the ground.

Just to be sure, take some measurements of the stand to be absolutely sure it's the floor. 2" off from end to end on a 7ish foot tank seems like a large grade on that floor, like it seems that you would notice the slope while walking on it.

I do agree that the stand needs shimmed along the length of it, so you will need different thickness pieces. I would think about every foot would be fine. If you really trust the strength of the stand, then you could just shim it under the vertical supports.

I had the same problem in my basement with my 315g. I had to shim the hell out of it and one side is almost out an inch. I make my stands out of 2x2 steel and have had zero problems since I set it up a few years ago

Used different thickness of plywood and Wooden beams as couldn't find anything like them shims in uk.

Stand is perfectly true, is just slate tile floor as each tile is different size and thickness lol
