Guys,i have a question.

Yesterday i picked up a new tank. ill be upgrading my 105 for a 152 so my fishies have some extra space. But i know my room is not completely levelled. When i put the tank in place, the left side of the tank is 1 cm lower than the right side. The front and the back are pretty much 100%. Do you guys think that 1 cm will matter on a 160cm tank? If i put it on the floor without extra support under the lower corner, will that be bad for the glass?
Any input is appreciated.

1cm or less than 1/3 of an inch shouldn't, in theory, be a problem. If it were MY tank, I'd cushion the entire bottom by placing foam or cork between the tank bottom and the stand. This is a good tip for people that make their own stands, BTW.

Hey Stiff

The problem comes from the stand being twisted or not square, sloping isn't as much of a problem. As long as the tank is evenly supported the slope is mainly looks. If you want to even it out it needs to be done the length of the stand, if ya prop one end up the stand might warp as part of it will be elevated off the floor.

There are self leveling concrete products, you could make a box and poor some of that stuff in it, might be a PITA to move though. Building a very stong base that levels the stand out would be another route.

thanks for the reply guys. So your saying bto better leave it like this than start "bending" the frame by placing stuff underneath? The tank is obviously even supported so this was kinda thought.

I'd say leave it, stick 1" foam under it and call it a day. If it is to far off a canopy to cover the water level would be the cheapest route for looks.

1cm over 163 isn't much at all really, my 55 gallon slopes 2cm over only 120cm.

It appears that we've all said NOT to mess with it. I'd like to point out though that if this were your kitchen cabinet, one or possibly all of us would have said to shim the bottom of the low side of your stand to level the stand. If the top of the stand is level and the tank is off, then you'd put foam or cork between the tank and stand.

im thinking to rearrange my room a bit which will delete all these problems as it will stand next to the wall completely levelled. need to think where to put all my stuff though :)

So for a custom made stand for a 300g tank. How thick of cork should be used underneath the tank??

I know my stands are good and straight (metal tubing) but i would like to do this to reasure it.
