You can't go far wrong with jebao. Quiet, reliable, variable speed, a lot of members on here use them.

Sicce is also a very quiet, powerful, low wattage using pump brand, made in Italy.
My original 180gal tank and sumps pump( a Laguna) was fried during a power surge a couple months back.
The Sicce I bought is rated at 1500 GPH.
I read really good reviews of the Sicce from reef keepers, the Sicce has been in service ever since, it is outrageously silent, and carries a 5 year warranty.

I was so pleased with it (and because power surges are so common here in Panama) I bought a Sicce powerhead as a backup, to retain circulation in the tank in case a power surge happens again.
They are not readily available here in Panama, and it took month to get it shipped here.

It is set up at the ready (unplugged) in case of emergency, or I turn it on when doing basic pump in the sump maintanence.

Is there a big difference between DC and AC pumps for longevity/durability? From my understanding DC is more power efficient and seem to have more flow control options

duanes duanes that Syncra SDC pump looks top notch, unfortunately my lfs doesn't carry those and I dont want to risk waiting for it to be delivered

I ended up buying a pondmaster pond-mag. My lfs is also honoring the 5 year warranty so I can just take it back to them for a new one instead of having to deal with the manufacturer.

I used Mag Drive pump for years, reliable, and they are powerful, some give off heat, so in certain tanks a heater may not be required, or using an underrated one per size of the tank may be all that is needed. I usually put a sponge underneath them to deaden vibration, and even put sponges on plumbing near the pump that tends to vibrate.
