When I was in Tampa I called Don and and arranged to come to his place the next day, he was a very nice cat. I did go home with over 50 cichlids, but hey, with Gage and the others, Tampa is like a candy store.
Gosh every time I go to Florida I drool at the chain LFS selection of SA/CA cichlids. I literally just got back from Petsmart to get a dog bed and all they had were oscars, blood parrots, green terrors, and convicts. When I worked there years ago they had red devils on top of those and that's it. I hear stories of Petsmarts selling Festaes and other more "exotic" cichlids, but I've never even seen that fish at any fish store ever in my life. Florida is like a freshwater fish sanctuary compared to the scant St. Louis stores!
Agreed, go grab something nice from Gage/Conkel. LFS stock what you average person wants, nemo, goldfish, and neon tetras.
