My closest LFS (Jack's Aquarium on Smithville RD in Dayton) kind of let me down tonight. I stopped there tonight after work to see if any rare new cichlids came in. Didn't see any. Then I saw in one of their 55 gallon cichlid tanks they had a pretty large green sunfish. I wasn't used to seeing that fish for sale at a fish store, so I looked for a price. Didn't see one for "green sunfish." Then one of the employees who likes to give me advice on my cichlids walked by. So I ponted to the green sunfish and asked him, "So, you have a green sunfish there?" He said no, that's a wolf cichlid, a dovii. They had a price tag for that, there were no doviis in there.
I said "Allllllrighty then", and strolled out the door right then. Didn't feel like telling him how wrong he was, you can not confuse these two fish. It was just a letdown to me to see how ignorant people selling the fish can be, and try to pawn themselves off as experts. God help you if you try to tell them their wrong.
Green sunfish confused with dovii??? Come on now fish store dude.
