It's annoying, why do 90% of aquariums in the Philippines have the ridiculous red green or blue plastic strip on the edges? It makes them look cheap and unprofessional
 
Couldn't you de rim them? I've heard stories of people doing just that but mostly it's because they prefer a rimless look instead of them having an ugly rim like those.
 
Oh yes you can, but it doesn't change a thing that majority of aquarium sellers put on those stupid colored rims, making them look like cheap toys. That's why when someone posts am aquarium with those types of rims, I immediately know it's from the Philippines. Beats me as to why that design is non existent in other countries.

I think this is purely for aesthetic purposes. The black ones look good sure, but the red ones green ones blue ones look so damn unprofessional
