I went in to buy some metronidazole medication for my fish, and found (to my surprise) that they actually had it (they never have anything I need lol). They had a container of 500mgx100 tablets. I grabbed it and went to checkout. As I am in line I take a glance at the price tag... $240.00. I laughed and figured, this must be a mistake, maybe they mean $24.00 (although I figured that was a bit on the cheap side). So I ask the girl at the register to check if that was the right price. She scanned it, and it popped up on the register as $240.00. I said this must be a mistake, so she called the person in charge of the fish department over. He looked at it, and without hesitation said "yep, its expensive stuff" in a really short, ******* type response. I put it back and went home to research and found many 500mgx100tablet bottles of metronidazole for 20-40.00 online. I understand they are a small ma-n-pop type shop and need to make their money, and I never question paying their reasonably high markup on other stuff because I like to support the small guys but I still think it has to be a mistake. It was re bottled into a bottle with their brand on it, so maybe they bought it in bulk and recalculated the price incorrectly, or their supplier is ripping them off, but there is no way that it could cost 240.00!
I ordered it online, and no longer need it from them anymore, but it still is driving me nuts. I don't know how to approach them about the cost with out sounding like just another customer who "can find it cheaper online" because its wayyy beyond that. I dont want some poor person walking in, being recommended that medication, and buying it for that price!
