My LFS is selling a 170 gallon fish tank but they said it needs to be resealed in on corner... (easy right?) Well I have seen the tank in person when it is up and when it was empty and this thing is HUGE just big enough to fit in the room I need it in... and it is half the prive as most tanks that are smaller than it!!!

It comes with the tank, and stand for $400

good deal or no?

If it didn't need to be resealed, I would say that is a good deal...

I've resealed small tanks before and that was easy, handling big sheets of glass and getting them exactly where you want them without smearing silicone around will be much more difficult...

I paid $300 for a 4' x 2' x 2' 120 gal w/ stand, glass tops, strip light and random odds and ends... I can get a brand new standard 6' 125 gal w/ stand glass tops & lights for $500...

The trick is tanks that large are hard to come by used... I wouldn't conisder that price tag outrageous, or a rip off... although I wouldn't consider it "a good deal" either...

oh... i see...

Well i can get a 75 new for bout 300 with the stand and everything or i can get a 125 new with stand and everthing for like 750...

alright... so if i get $200 each paycheck I will have this tank in 2 weeks =) but lets make it safe and say a month because I gotta buy my own gas... and I am 16 but the length of my fish tank space in my room is a max 92 inches and i think they said the tank was 72 long so looks like theres gonna be a 170 in my room =)

i wouldn't pay $400 for a tank i had to reseal, but that's just me. if your going for a new tank why not search over craigslist since it'll be a month anyway and you may come across a much better deal. for example i just paid $350 for a 220 w everything but filter and they delivered it to my house. i'd do a lot of searching before paying for a tank you know needs resealed.

Yeah I would keep trying craigslist.

I would say if your willing to reseal go for it, i payed like 320 for my 75 gallon brand new(with stand, hood and lights). But i think in canada tanks are a little harder to come by so things are a little bit more expensive sometimes.

i wouldn't buy that. for 400 on CL you can find a complete setup with filters and stand and all in good condition. whats your zip code?

yup that is so true you will want a bigger one all the time. When I had a 10 i wanted a 30 but when I saw the 55 I went for that. Now I look at me 55 and it looks small to me now. It's time for a bigger one for me. I m looking for a bigger tank with everything right now!!
