yea idk if anyone around here could properly house that... in NY a lot of people get things temporarily as something to brag about unfortunately and then get rid of them...
There is a store in south Jersey that has one for sale. They have had it for about a year now and they've even raised the price to five thousand dollars.
I don't really see the difference between keeping some of the shark species commonly seen in the SW trade and keeping some of the larger cats in particular like RTCS and TSN's.. even some people keeping larger Silver arrowana's and of course your Pima's. It takes a dedicated hobbiest for sure to keep any of the giants. iir there are a few threads in the DYI tanks for some SW shark keepers. I am glad that they do have such a high price tag. I am always suitably scandalized at seeing a 15$ price tag on TSN's and RTC's at a local store and had to drag myself out a time or two at a particulalry strikeing juvi once or twice. Thankfully I haven't seen an Pima at any of my LFS's
It really breaks down to the store being equiped to house such a monster if it doesn't sell. and the hobbist wanting such a monster to really know what they're getting into.
yes but a shark is much different then a large cat species. they require constant movement, a much larger appetite, and a lot of open water. many of the larger cats arent anywhere near as active and will rest in a cave or overhang. also a black tipped can get 6' and will never stop moving as oppsed to a 4' rtc or tsn that would spend much of its time hanging out on the bottom.
those black tip sharks are caught in an island in the philippines called "batangas". after being caught, they are being sent to the capital of the philippines, manila by bus. it takes around 4 hours before they arrive in there. most don't make it because they are just kept in a large styro box with water. the fishermen here are the ones selling them to the LFS due to poverty.
Theres a pets pluss near me that has one. Idk if its for sale though its in a pond. pretty cool, the pond is open so if you stretch you can touch it. ( not that iv done that or anything)

i have seen numerous setups that can house a black tip and a few other sharks like bonnets and lemon sharks. i no a few members here who have large enough tanks to house them as well. If you have the means why now have the shark. Indoor ponds can be built for these animals pretty easily whithout to much work or money. So i don't really see to much of a problem with it. I mean people haev arapimas they get much larger than a black tip.
