LFS sturgeon !!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i've got one ... paid about $30-40 for it
the pond is ideal, but they'll be ok in a tank for a while.
temp should be 72 or lower, but some people have had long term success with them in warmer water.

the more important thing is aeration ... air stones, lots of surface aggitation, etc ...

and you are correct, they are most likely young whites. or some sort of hybrid. but definitely not a sterlet

wow, cool looking little guys. wont be little for long though.

I see em at the local lfs's alot but never had even attempted to pick one up cuz I know how big they get haha. crazy they even have them up for sale. would be cool to keep in the right setup though.

Hard to identify at that stage. Probably are white sturgeons, but there are a lot of hybrids on the market. Have to ask the breeder to be sure. US Fish and Wildlife web site has a good manual on how to identify sturgeon based on the number of scutes, shape of the mouth, position of barbels, etc.

If I can figure out how to post images from my computer, I will share pics of my baby russian sturgeons.

I will have resources to own these some day <3

Amazing creatures they are.

technocowboy, your babies are adorable!
