LFS Temensis big disapointment.

SunPet has started listing temensis in their stock lists. Makes you wonder!

As far as I can tell, there are two major clades of peacock bass species -- temensis, piquiti(azul), pinima. Then there's ocell, mono, kelberi, orino, pleiozona, melaniae. These seem to correspond pretty well with 'how well most people can tell them apart at 2 inches long'. :P

When I got this mono it was 1.5" all it had was the straight center line and the bands on the upper top half of the body that connect to the center line(these band fade in and out when the bass is alert or stress) the body was long and slim at this size just like Tem. I know when temensis is 2.5"- 3.5" it easy to tell their slim and the thin narrow center line is a dead give away. This bass body started to change, the shape of the body and head started thick not like Tems at this size. I also should have know that it was a mono cause that all this LFS was getting for the last 3-4 years.

All pbass have straight line when small,

Negative Tems , Azuls , Panima and Xingu have one straight horizontal line when the small. Other bass have usually 3 vertical bars when they are small! Stop buying bass from Richard he is the worst fish store in America! I have three for sale!;)

Wasn't from Richard, so even at 1"- 1.5" mono have 3 vertical bars I thought all pbasses have it at 1.5" and under.

I think mood and water conditions have a lot to do with what you see too. Even monos, orinos, and kelberi will show a straight line from head to tail at that size when stressed. If you observe the same fish for a long time, you will see different things.

Maybe you guys should check out my thread: Unknown pbass juvies. Unless the striped one isn't mono/ocell, is it temensis or azul? I'm just confused about that guy!
