LFS: UK

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You might hear of ‘London Borough of Havering’ in your visits.
Although it is technically a part of London, the addresses still read ‘Essex’.
So I guess you could say it is slap between London and Essex.

Anyway there is a place called ‘Wet Pets’ in Romford (Essex).
It looks absolutely tiny from the inside, but as I say time and time again, it goes back for as far as the eye can see. Hence a very long thin shop.
It has every bread and butter freshwater fish you can think of, many hard to find freshwater fish, a fantastic selection of freshwater plants, and its saltwater selections are out of this world.

Really worth the visit if you are in the area or not to far out.

I'm going to London and Nottinghamshire next weekend and wonder what shops I must go too?
I read some about Wharfe Aquatics - is that a good lsf?
Any ideas?

You can take 3 of the best 4 shops in the UK then.
Firstly go to Wholesale Tropicals in London, father and son business, both caled Terry. I got my last batch of snakeheads from them.
Heading North (almost midway between London and Pinxton) is Oxford, the shop there is called The Goldfish Bowl, then finally Wharf Aquatics, it's a small villae but very easily to find, it's only 0.2 miles from M1 Motorway Junction 28, and their front door is only 1.7 miles from the motorway exit. They are closed on Wednesdays. Ask for either Richard Hardwick or Dr Sean Evans. I regularly go to Wharf even though it's a 550 mile drive there and back. Other than these three the only other one I'd say is a must see is Wildwoods in Essex. I would rate them as;
1. Wharf Aquatics
2. Wildwoods
3. Wholesale Tropicals
4. The Goldfish Bowl
Hope you enjoy them, let us know what you think!

Nice shop with a huge display of tanks. As usualy a great stock of "Bread and butter" community fish but also a great stock of African's, SA/CA, Salt water, always a nice supply of Corys and Pl*cos too. This shop is on 2 levels and its usually the basement that always draws me. Downstairs he has 8 72x24x24 tanks and about 16 60x18x18 tanks. In these tanks are mostly SA/CA hand ins, Arrows, Rays etc..... You just never know what you will find down there from breeding pairs of Chocolate cichlids, Discus, Midas, RD's, RTC to Arrows at £800 a pop. Great selection of fully set up tanks for sale too.
