LFS whants ornate back?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is without doubt the store's fault on many levels, not least of which is having the bad taste to ask you to pay for their mistake. Not much interest in customer relations in that approach, especially as you've been travelling all that way, coming back to pay the markup on new products and suppplies time after time.

What were they doing keeping bichirs in an insecure tank in the first place? Sounds like it could have ended up dead just as easily. Obviously their fish dept is in need of some education.

Offer to mail him the difference from paid price to his wholesale as suggested by a few already.

Keep it, love it, and post pictures.

I say good score for you, and i cant belive they even asked for it back.
whoever netted it probably had to end up paying the difference for it, so asking you for it back was a last ditch effort to recoup his money lol

If its the the other way round and the $10 fish jump into the $ 70 fish tank and you paid $70 for the $10 fish . Will the LFS refund you the difference the next time you are back there? I doubt so.

I'm not sure if anybody mentioned this, but in California (and maybe other states) you only have to pay what you are first quoted. I know this first-hand because I worked at a smoothie store that had merchandise, and a customer asked me what a mug costed, and I said, "Um probably around $3.00 but I'll ask my manager". When he came out, he said to me,"Well we have to sell it for $3 now because that's the state law in CA." The actual price was closer to $5, and we ate the loss.

So, if the sale occurred in CA or another state with the law, I would say keep it. If it didn't, I'd say pay up to the %50 price, as was mentioned above, so that you can keep a decent relationship with the store (you obviously like it there, since you went twice within a week and its 3 hours away). Plus, if you are the type to feel guilty, then you should make at least a small concession.

What I think is weird was that they asked you to return it and then they would give you the right fish... thats just dumb, because the "right" fish is the one you have (that you wanted), but for the "wrong" price.

dude i'm on good terms with my lfs, but i'd have to say to hell with giving it back...

You keep it. I've worked in many sales situations and if there is a pricing mistake/mixup, the store is at fault. You lucked out. I'm pretty sure that the sale was final and there is nothing they can do.

I wouldn't just give it back. Split the difference but the stores error is not your fault.
