I just moved to Queens, NY and having a hard time locating a good LFS with quality stock and reasonable price. I'm willing to travel anywhere within the 5 borough if the place is worth it.
I currently found:
-Paradise Aquarium on Fresh Pond Road
-Fish Town USA on Northern Boulevard
-Animal Pantry on Crossbay Boulevard
-Petco and Petland

Does anyone else know of another place?
(Thanks in advance :))

That's my go to place when I can't find something within my area. They have a great collection and good water quality for their stock on display but they could be a bit pricy. I want to find a place like FT USA for price comparison.

An example, I asked for a quote from FT USA for a 90g brace and they said $90. I went into a random LFS (poor quality stock, not worth shopping) and they asked for $30. I was a bit jaded after that experince, that's why I'm looking for more options.

fish town has good prices on live stock , cheapest out of anywhere else ive been to in the tri state area, but everything else is way over priced

I agree with you but I want to be able to do price comparison before I pay for something. They are the only LFS that I know that sells media for my Eheim 2217. When I had a tank contamination when my 250w Stealth Pro Heater malfunction & melted within the tank, I had to pay $160 to replace all the media for the filter (I lost a catfish that day).

Visit Manhattan!! Try the 10013 area, around Grand Street area. To start, theres JC Aquarium at Elizabeth St and Grand St. Then there's Win Tropica Aquarium in the center of Mott St. Alittle further down the same block around the corner, you have another store that specializes in Flowerhorns and Discus. Finally, there's Aqua Star Pet shop on Mulberry St. The travel distance between these 4 stores should not take more than 2 minutes. Good Luck on your trip.

In Nassau,
i have found 2 decent places specializing in just fish, used to be called Aquarium Adventure, now called Pets-warehouse, 177 Glen Cove Road, Carle Place, NY . Large selection of fish, many tanks, good to average prices on fish and supplies too, the old place used to have crazy high prices.

Also another place with a big selection, Tropical Showcase, 372 West Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY...they have a huge 600 gallon planted tank, i was like WHAO! when i saw that tank! lol

Also near in that same area Aquarium Village inc..473 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY, not impressed, small selection, but if you are in that area, could hurt to stop by and check them out.

Queens: Fishtown as mentioned by others...

Blue Gold Aquarium Inc.
8612 Whitney Avenue, NY
they have some harder to find fishes, ok prices

Kissena Aquarium Inc
4630 Kissena Boulevard, NY
Asian themed fish....blood parrots, flowerhorns, hybrids, ok selection, average price....usually negoitiable

Northern Aquarium Inc
13502 Northern Boulevard, NY
Another Asian themed fish place, ok selection, average price

As far as Manhattan, i have to agree with Hamsterguy....all 4 places i have been to, and are definitely places worth visiting. Depending on when you visit, you might find some nice interesting stock.

Well good luck on your adventures, and report back on any new finds...always willing to check out a good fish place.
