The sound doesnt hold many fish at this time of the year, but the Rivers (such as the Thames) will hold HUGE numbers of school sized bass with a few keepers mixed in. A 48.5 inch bass was weighed in at a local tackleshop just this past saturday. That fish is the exception to the rule though. Most fish caught are between 16 and 26 inches, with a few over the 28 inch "keeper" mark. a 2-300 fish day for 3 people is not uncommon from a boat. Most boat guys will find and chase the schools and vertical jig with a 1/4 ounce to 3/4 ounce jig depending on current and the depth of the school. Fishing from shore the best bet is a 1/2 ounce storm shad or 1/2 ounce jig retrieved as slow as you can without getting snagged on the bottom.
Though that is true richard4878 you frogot to mention that it's only the sound in CT waters if you go to the sound NY waters you are breaking the law because the season is closed. Just wanted to make sure u know. I don't want u coming over to NY sound and getting tickets.
