I have found them to be very inaccurate.
How were you using them? Salifert and LaMotte are many times more consistent, and much easier to use. Seachems are more consistent then the API, which I have actually tried a several tests at the same time, and found that they are inaccurate. Only a few tests actually were testing the same readings, and that was with 4 master test kits, and 4 of the same test never lined up all together.

You butt hole. You cursed me!! I found my peacock bass on the floor this morning. lmao. Im sad but that is so Ironic.:grinno:

On the other hand tho I did bring my water to the LFS. And can anyone guess what it came out to be? Oddly enough, 0 ppm, again.

:screwy: Unreal, no tank lids for three months, no water changes for two months, you lose a fish and ya think you were cursed. Looks more like some irresponsablity on your part.

Acouple months ago I posted about my planted tank with very low to zero nitrates, I beleive it can happen. In your case you were probably running 100+ ppm, Once you put the swords in they feed off all the nitrates to give you your zero reading. Of course your fish are still swimming in water that is over 2 months old, which contains other polutants besides nitrates and all the trace elements have surely been depleted by now.

Like to see ya take better care of your fish, buy some tops, do some water changes.

Why is the barracuda and the two catfish still alive if I cant "take better care of my fish"? Which for the water I brought to two different LFS? And I did a water change because I can "Take better care of my fish"

Low maybe zero I don’t think so

It all depends how big the swords are (full tank shot would help)

most test kits don’t go below 5ppm so you can only say with mild confidence that you have between 0-5 with the margin of error of a visual color gradation i would say most test kits sold for home use are only accurate to within a +/-5ppm range at best

Good post regardless

Good job that's a start, now get some tops. Don't just keep them alive, keep them so they thrive.

Oh there thriving.

your swords are still very new. they were not grown submersed. You wil see that they will lose the leaves they have and grow new longer leaves since they have been submerged.. I did notice that your boload is very minimal though. all of your fish are very small and you might actually have enough anarobic bacteria to consume the nitrate in your gravel bed. As for the bashing just blow it off. Remember they are your fish. BUT if you would like to see their true potential keep up on the water changes. They will grow much faster and be healthier overall.

amazon swords are one of the better nitrate removers as well. Just so you know for future reference plants don't remove all that much nitrate. They actually consume the ammonia before it has a chance to be converted to nitrate. They can use this more readily than nitrate.

Thanks for the info dodge. I usually do 50% water change every two weeks on my 30 g. How much in the 75? Like 30% every two weekS?
