I really like my 14" male synspilum.
A combination of size, beauty and personality. Awesome.

He's still only 2 years old.

From your experiences and under optimum conditions - how long will he live for?

Thanks in advance.

syns arent even suppose to get that big. i had one for a couple years and he was 7-8 inches. i think 12 is suppose to around max size and i believe lifespan is up to 10 yrs.

syns are one of the largest vejas but ive never seen one in aquaria larger then 12 inches. so if his is 14 thats the largest i know of on here. btw got any pictures? id love to see that big sucker

He's a gentle giant, keeping everything in harmony, in a 240 community tank.

At times he's even more intense in colours.

Apologies for the water stains on the glass.

Beautiful fish!

The other syn (background) is 5".

I've had the big guy since he was 2 inches and I'm certain he is F1 (from a reliable source).

But i'm not so sure about the other 5 syns in the tank - whether they are cross or pure (bought 'em a few months ago from another source) . I'll have to start another post in the near future and send some pics of these and maybe you guys can help out.
