i have heard of a lot of these cichlids living 20 years if taken care of properly.

your syn is beautiful though man! he should live a Loooooooooong time for you.

Yes, reallybigfish - I've personally seen some that were a few inches longer and bulkier.

Thanks Dmaan. We've still getting used to the division into Vieja and Paratheraps down here.

I was just concerned about how long he'll be around to be admired - hence this post. 10-20 more years has cheered me right up.

Still, I need to look at the long-term and look at pairing him off.
