I dont think so. I always thought it was to make your tank look nice with a background.

I have the light blue background in my growout tank and it does not look any better... Im still itching to paint it black. if you are going for a blueish hue, its better to play around with the lighting instead. such as actinic or a 20,000k bulb.

meh idc just thought it was nice i cant put any background cause all my tanks are black back its painted so unless i stick it from the inside which i dont think is a good idea ill only have black lol

Deep blue here. I like it and I'm not tripping . Will use black on my next tank though.

I have black sand and a black back, and my tank looks really dark. I'm thinking about going blue too.

Light blue makes me think of petsmart or generic fish store tanks. I think a nice black to blue gradient background might look pretty cool.
