Hello all,

Need your opinions on what light fixture i should get. I had a standard 1 bulb fixture that came with this tank when i had bought it 7 years ago and it finally gave out. I did not like the way it made my tank look, the bulb that i was using was a hagen 18000k powerglo. I'm wanting to go with a t5 fixture and was thinking this would be nice http://www.bigalsonline.ca/BigAlsCA...currentusanovaextreme482x54wt510000ksaltwater

I'm just gonna swap one of the bulbs for a actinic because i really like the look and have lots of fish with blues.
Btw this fixture is for my all male hap and peacock tank. Pretty much all the fish are f0 and i really want the best fixture possible to get their colors to "pop". If this isn't the best fixture what would be? What do you guys use in your setups that gives you the best results? Let's hear it!

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Are there plants in the tank?

I put a shop light that holds 2 t-8s over my 80 gallon. One bulb is a 50/50 bulb and the other is just a daylight bulb. The tank looks fantastic and the fixture was super cheap($15).
cliff mentioned on another tank. It looks nice but that tank is planted so it needed more light than a t-8 could provide.
I also have the t5 fixture that

Nope no plants in the tank. Just a couple of big rocks i picked up from a local landscaping company. The coralife t5 fixture looks good especially the price but i'm not really liking the fact that it rests directly on the top of the tank. Don't those fixtures get extremely hot? Makes me think that temperature would fluctuate and having that much heat on the plastic top frame could possibly make it melt.... Your shop light setup seams interesting i will definetly look into that. Thanks very much for your input guys.

I have one of the smaller T-5 fixtures and it doesn't get very hot at all.

bump :D

I have 10k and actinic t5's on my big hap tank.
Perfect mix of white and the blue actinic highlights the fish very well.

Do you have peacocks or mbuna?
Would be cool if you could post a pic too of your setup.
