way too much for something u dont need. but heck if thats what u want.. then go get it. but dont go complaining how to get rid and clean the algaes in ur tank.

To everyone talking about algae, algae growth with high powered lights is inevitable, especially in new tanks.. If worst came to worst a simple UV sterilizer ran for a few weeks would clear up the algae problem easily.

The reason I'm thinking of lights like this is because I want something BRIGHT and a bit overkill to showcase the tank/fish.

I think that light may be more suited for me, still providing me with 3watts of light per gallon, and a hell of a lot cheaper, but what does everyone think of that one?

I don't like using long fixtures, too long to put on the floor, too long to handle without banging it on something, more likely to break either the fixture OR something else. I'd rather have 2 or 4 3' fixtures.

Before buying a fixture you should look into availability of replacement bulbs. How much are they? Who carries them? Do you have a LFS that has them? If you need them, how long will it take to get them? Can you use other brand bulbs as replacements?

This thread would have been shorter if you'd said that right up front.
