We all know that no one is here to read posts. We are all here for the pictures :grinyes:
Speak for your self! lol. I'm greedy - I WANT BOTH! lol

This is what it looks like now, this anubias got should be in driftwood but got off during a water change. I may or may not change the substrate, depending if carpet plants can grow in sand. I’ll will be buying more zebra rock since it’s cheap, and the finale hard scape will be with the rocks and driftwood.
Lights are turned off during this time, but may change now that I have some floating plants.

Wow. That looks crowded. What do you have in there?
I see:
1 EBA
2 angels (are they a pair? Do they get along?)
some rainbows/barbs.
Some sort of geophagus?

There may be some problems in the future.
The sand looks filthy. It needs a VERY good clean. Like remove it completely to clean clean. IMO dark substrate looks better under carpets but white sand could work. To answer your question: Yes, you can do a carpet in plain sand. What kind of carpet were you thinking? I freel like there isn't enough vertical room being taken up Id get something to take that up. Whether it is a plant or dw. .

I may seen rude or blunt so I apologize. That's just the way I type. I put everything as a statement.

Not rude at all, the sand isn’t as dirty as it looks, just the suns light going through the glass. One the glass there brown algae in the sand, that’s why the light isn’t turned on for a couple hours during the day. The tank is a little crowded(at least one water change a week(30*2 or 50*1), the angels may get moved to their own tank so I can breed them(they are a pair). I was thinking dwarf hair grass as a carpet. Here’s a pic from a while ago of the sand.

Oh good. :) I have a little of that issue too but I have black sand so it isnt as noticeable. What is the full stocking? THE ANGELS NEED TO BE MOVED. That is unless you want theme to terrorize, rule and scare all of the other fish. Hair grass CAN work but it doesnt really thrive w/o co2. Try: Helanthium tenellum, stargrass (it is a stem plant but it can from a carpet if trimmed weekly), Dwarf chain sword (can grow up to 6" so trim it often) or S. repens (I don't have good luck with this but you may). All of these need nutrient substarte or root tabs to thrive and grow.

The angels are ok, they laid eggs once and fought against most of the fish. The acara doesn’t care at all and is the boss in the tank. I got nutrient tabs.
The other stock includes 2 other rainbowfish(total of 4)
1 regain dwarf pike
1 pictus catfish
1 old true upside down catfish
1 vittata pleco
1 zig zag eel
2 Siamese algae eaters
3 small catfish, I forgot the name of, 3 inches including tail.
Tank is over stock but everyone does get along.

ooookkkkkay. I still say move the angels ASAP.
I see some major issues with this stocking.

1. I don't know much about pikes but are they like this?
If so it LOOKS like you should be fine. :)

2. The pictus NEEDS to be moved soon. How big is it now? They are a schooling species that, while they don't get too big, are very active. A minimum of a 55g is required as they need to be in groups of 4+. :)

3. Let the UDC live out it's life. It'll be fine if you don't plan on getting more. How old is it?

4. By vittata pleco do you mean a twig catfish (F. vittata)?

5. what species of eel are we talking here? (scientific name please)

6. I assume the SAEs are getting along. If so Leave them. You don't want to risk getting a flying fox or similar species. SAEs are a schooling species but two foxs will fight. You'd be safe to leave the # at 2.

7. Cory cats? if not a pic would help.

8. Where are the other rainbows on the list? They are also a schooling species. Are they all the same species?

9. In the photo I see some sort of geophagus/ram type fish on the far left. I can only see the tail. What is that?
